The 2024 film Plainspoken, a documentary exploring race relationships in the Deep South community of Plains, Georgia, a town unique for its international renown as the hometown of the late former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, has been named an official selection in the 2025 Justice Film Festival in New York City.

The 2024 film Plainspoken, a documentary exploring race relationships in the Deep South community of Plains, Georgia, a town unique for its international renown as the hometown of the late former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, has been recognized with three Awards of Recognition from The Best Shorts Film Competition.

First-time filmmaker Andrew Greer, producer April Dace of Dace & Mohr, and cinematographer Chris Cameron of Narrative Productions, have won two prestigious Awards of Merit from The Accolade Global Film Competition. The awards were given for director Andrew Greer’s innovative documentary, Plainspoken–an fresh exploration of Plains, Georgia's dual legacy—one of deep historical significance as the hometown of the 39^th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, and former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter, and ongoing conversations about race and class.

This community event gives an opportunity to get together, enjoy a meal, watch a film and have a moderated conversation about the film and what makes a community.  It will be a fun event that will make you think, listen and connect.  Filmmaker Andrew Greer will join us for a brief director talkback about his experience filming Plainspoken.  In partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting, Music in Common and Out of Hand Theater.
