NASHVILLE, March 1, 2025–The 2024 film Plainspoken, a documentary exploring race relationships in everyday communities through the specific lens of Plains, Georgia, a town unique for its international renown as the hometown of the late former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, has been recognized with an Impact DOCS Award Competition, as well as a laurel at the recent Reale Film Festival.

As debut filmmakers, Plainspoken director Andrew Greer, joined by co-producers April Dace of Dace & Mohr and Chris Cameron of Narrative Productions received an Impact DOCS Award of Merit in the Documentary Feature category, and a Reale Film Festival winners laurel in the category of Best Title.

“We are just getting started in trying our hands at making documentaries, so I am grateful for any recognition of Plainspoken from our peers in the film industry,” said the film’s director, writer, and co-producer, Andrew Greer. “But the true reward are the new conversations being sparked in the hearts and homes of those who are viewing the film around the country.”

Plainspoken is available for streaming on GPB.org, PBS.org , and the PBS Video App, following its broadcast debut. More information is available at www.plainspokenfilm.com.
