Plainspoken Named Official Selection at Justice Film Festival

The 2024 documentary film Plainspoken, a documentary exploring race relationships in the Deep South community of Plains, Georgia, a town unique for its international renown as the hometown of the late former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, has been named an official selection at New York City’s prestigious Justice Film Festival for 2025.

Other featured films include:

A Man with a Sole: The Impact of Kenneth Cole, directed by Dori Bernstein and celebrating the 40-year legacy of fashion icon and activist Kenneth Cole, who has consistently placed ‘cause’ before commerce.

2025 Academy Award nominee Sugarcane, a groundbreaking investigation into an Indian residential school, shedding light on years of forced separation, assimilation and abuse that Indigenous children experienced at the hands of Church and government from Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie.

And the New York City premiere of Inheritance, a documentary chronicling 11 years in the life of Curtis, a hopeful 12-year-old growing up in a family plagued by addiction across five generations.
